SUMMER CAMPS
Summer camp registration is OPEN!! We have already sold out of a couple of camps & getting super close to selling out the others. If you have yet to enroll your dancer, please do so ASAP. We can’t guarantee placement for our current families since they are open to the public. We are so excited that we could add an additional Tot PopUp to the schedule & we hope to add a My Buddy & Me Workshop as well.

RECITAL MERCHANDISE ORDER
We will be doing a large shoe & merchandise order ahead of our upcoming recital. We don’t always get our merchandise in a timely manner so it’s best to order early. If your dancer is close to outgrowing their shoes, needing tights or a nude leotard, please get an order in before Monday, April 1st. We are hoping that ordering this early will allow merchandise to arrive before recital. REMINDER: Every Hip Hop student needs to order our Hip Hop sneakers or purchase all black (including sole) Converse. Contemporary 2, 3 & 4 dancers need to have tan Apolla socks.
SPIRIT WEEK
Our March Spirit Week is guaranteed to be nothing but colorful FUN!!! We will be having OVER THE RAINBOW Spirit Week March 11th-15th. Please send your dancer to class in their favorite RAINBOW colors, anything Wizard of Oz or St. Patrick’s day theme too! Basic dress code rules apply: hair pulled back, appropriate shoes & belly/bottom covered.
COMPANY PERFORMANCE
Our Performance Company will be performing this Saturday – March 9th – at the Women’s Fair on campus in the UC Ballroom. Don’t miss their energetic & super fun performance on the main stage at 12:30pm!
SPRING BREAK
Studio M will be closed for Spring Break the week of March 18th-March 22nd. We hope you have some fun & get some rest/relaxation as well!
The RECITAL Run-through
It is officially the time to start dumping recital info into your world!! I know you are so excited!! This section of the Happenings will consist of your monthly recital reminders & any new recital information…
- SHOW DETAILS: Our annual recital – Studio M Presents…PARADISE – will be presented to a lively and fun audience the week of May 20th. Dress rehearsals will be scheduled in the beginning of the week & shows will happen on Thursday the 23rd, Friday the 24th & Saturday the 25th. Due to the Missoula Symphony performing the weekend before our recital week, our dates have been pushed through the 25th. We will be basking in the good PARADISE vibes at the Dennison Theatre. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
- SHOW ORDERS: In case you didn’t see the email titled PARADISE RECITAL INFORMATION, please see the attached show orders below to find which night your dancer will be performing. There are three shows that we are calling ‘Experiences’ & your dancer will be performing one number for every class that they are enrolled in. The Recital Week Schedule is also attached which has the times for the MANDATORY staging rehearsals for each class. We realize that this is during the school year and there are many after school events but we are unable to be flexible as there is a ripple of consequences with every change. We are not able to make changes to these orders now that they are being released. We work REALLY HARD on our shows to accommodate as many requests as possible but with over 34 families with multiple dancers, we cannot put all family members on the same night.

- COSTUME PHOTO WEEK: We will be having our costume photo week May 6th-10th. Jason Tupeck Photography will be doing our recital photos. Please be sure to read through all of the information below. Full class group photos will be distributed to all for $20/dancer & individual shots can be purchased via a photo package. You can purchase your individual photo packet via the Parent Portal by choosing Classes/Events in the upper right corner of your dashboard. Please purchase your photos BEFORE photo week so we can be as organized as possible. Photo packets will be available for purchase Monday – March 11th.Attachment: 2024 Studio M Annual Recital Photo Shoot Flyer.pdf (1.9MB)Costume Photo Week will also serve as our first Dress Rehearsal. Classes will perform for each other with the mirrors covered so it’s more like the real thing. Please be sure that your child comes to class in their costume, with proper tights, shoes & specific hair. Please plan for your dancer to be at the studio for at least 1hr. We will try to get the youngest dancers done right at the top of the hour while the older dancers may stay the entire hour and a half. The Photo Week Schedule will be slightly different than your normal dance schedule & will be released soon. Please keep an eye out for another Studio M email with more details!
- SHOW REHEARSAL WEEK is May 13th-May 17th. This week, we will be running our shows from beginning to end in Studio Montana. This means that your child will likely be scheduled at a different time than normal for that week. Now that the show orders are complete, I can create a schedule for that week.
- STARGRAMS & SPONSORSHIPS: Tavja will be sending an email out in the next couple of days with all of the information regarding recital sponsorship for businesses & StarGram information too. In case you are new and don’t know what a StarGram is, it’s a fun way to give your dancer a shoutout! We design fun graphics with a photo of your dancer (or just text if you prefer) that is displayed in a slideshow on the stage backdrop. Please check out the examples below.

- Each class will receive an email by the end of the month from myself or Tavja with ALL the specifics for that particular class: show days/times, rehearsal days/times, costume specifics, photo week specifics, etc. Please keep a lookout for this email and be sure to save it in a special place so that you can refer to it often.
- Recital Tickets will go on sale April 1st. We will be using a 3rd party vendor called TuTu Tix. You can purchase tickets online through their website. More details to come…
- Recital Fees are due on May 1st. Each child participating in the recital is charged a $40 fee that covers recital tanks, recital video links & payroll for recital week.
- Please be sure to visit the parent portal to check your text message preferences. As we get closer to recital & especially the week of, we will send reminders out via text. We can’t send them if you don’t allow us to via your parent portal.
UPCOMING…
– The annual EGG MY YARD FUNdraiser is around the corner! Hire the Studio M Bunnies to hop on over to your yard to hide eggs. Give your kids a fun & effort free surprise!!
– The Montana Dance Arts Association spring workshop will be held in Missoula this April 6th & 7th! If your dancer is 9+ and interested in attending a 2 day workshop, please let me know!
REMINDERS
- We do not have a water fountain so make sure your dancer has their own water bottle.
- If you are sick at all, please stay home and use our Zoom option. Parents are welcome to watch class with this option.
- Make sure your dancer is following dress code. Basic rules: hair pulled back, proper shoes, belly & bottoms covered. Be sure to check your class description for more details.
- ONLY TOTS & LITTLES PARENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING. If you have a child in a Combo, Level 1, 2, 3, 4 classes, Medley, Merge or Mixed Media, please watch via Zoom.
- Follow us on Instagram & Facebook. We post a lot about what’s happening at our studio & it’s an easy way to keep up. You will also get monthly emails like this!
