April Happenings
Hello!
I feel like I blinked and March is over!! But that’s okay because I’m so ready for more sunny days & possibly even some warm April showers.
Before I get into details, I want to make sure to remind you to read all the way through. You will be receiving multiple emails a month at this point & they are all VERY important. We want to make sure that you know all of the details you need to get you successfully through our busiest time of the year.

ADULT WORKSHOP
Our last Adult Workshop of the season will begin TODAY – Tuesday April 4th! The class will meet each Tuesday in the month of April from 7:30-8:30pm. If you want to learn the basics of Ballet or brush up on technique, this is the class for you!! REGISTRATION IS OPEN & we are excited to have Miss Anastasia teaching the awesome Studio M Adults.
SPIRIT WEEK – DISNEY FUN
Our April Spirit Week will be NEXT WEEK – April 10th-14th. Please have your dancer come to class dressed in their favorite Disney attire. They can wear any costume or costume pieces as long as our basic dress code rules still apply: midriff & bottom covered, hair pulled back & appropriate shoes. This is going to be MAGICAL!!
COLORING CONTEST
We are having our third annual coloring contest!! If your dancer wants to participate, please have them pick up a coloring sheet from the office & bring it back to the studio. Feel free to get creative & make your sheet a piece of art!! Make sure they have their name on it so we when we pick the winners, we know who to get the prize to. YEP…PRIZES!! Please return your picture by April 28th to be considered for a prize.
SPRING SWIRL CLASSES
Spring Swirl classes are still open!! If you want your dancer to try something new, these 45min combo classes are sure to be a blast & a good intro to multiple genres. Spring Swirl students will participate in the recital with a short performance wearing their recital tanks. These classes also have supplemental curriculum so they are a bit different than your average dance class. Registration is open & classes have just begun. See the schedule below for more info:
· Bubble Gum Swirl: Ages 4-6; Friday 5:15-6:00pm
· Cookie Dough Swirl: Ages 7-10; Friday 6:00-6:45pm
EGG MY YARD FUNDRAISER
It’s that fun time of year when you can hire the Studio M bunnies to hop on over to your house (or a friends) to egg your yard on Easter eve. Waking up to a yard full of eggs on Easter is SO MUCH FUN!! This is a FUNdraiser for the Performance Company and the money goes directly to the families to help with the financial costs of workshops, extra classes & travel. The bunnies book up fast so be sure to call right away! Please see the attachment below for more information!

COMPANY PERFORMANCES & COMPETITIONS
- SHOW & SHINE: If you are a fan of our Competition Company and would love to see their dances in person before their final competition of the year, we will be having our second annual Show & Shine performance on April 15thfrom 2:00-4:00pm. Join us for a fun afternoon filled with amazing dance & popcorn too! The price is $5/person at the door or $15/family. Proceeds raised will go to our Studio M Dance Scholarship fund. The Studio M Booster club will also have raffle baskets & will be selling their raffle tickets for a week long stay in Cabo!!
- The final dance competition of the year will be April 21st-April 23rd! The Competition Company will be traveling to Seattle & the competition will be live streamed! Follow our social media for more information!
RECITAL MERCHANDISE ORDER
We will be doing a large shoe & merchandise order ahead of our upcoming recital. We have had never ending issues getting our merchandise in a timely fashion so we are trying to get ahead of the curve. If your dancer is close to outgrowing their shoes, needing tights or a nude leotard, please get an order in by April 15th. We are hoping that ordering this early will allow merchandise to arrive before recital. REMINDER: Every Hip Hop student needs to order our Hip Hop sneakers or purchase all black Converse. Contemporary 3 & 4 dancers need to have Apolla shocks.
The RECITAL Run-through
This section of the Happenings will consist of your monthly recital reminders & any new recital information…
– SHOW DETAILS: Our annual recital – Studio M Presents…TOYBOX – will be presented to a lively and fun audience the week of June 12th. Staging rehearsals will be scheduled in the beginning of the week & shows will happen on Wednesday the 14th, Thursday the 15th & Friday the 16th. We will be opening our nostalgic TOYBOX for hours of FUN at the Dennison Theatre. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
– SHOW ORDERS: Please see the attached show orders below to find which night your dancer will be performing. There are three shows that we are calling ‘Playdates’ & your dancer will be performing one number for every class that they are enrolled in. We are not able to make changes to these orders now that they are being released. We work REALLY HARD on our shows to accommodate as many requests as possible but with over 34 families with multiple dancers, we cannot put all family members on the same night.

– COSTUME PHOTO WEEK: We will be having our costume photo week May 22nd-26th. Jason Tupeck Photography will be doing our recital photos. Please be sure to read through all of the information below. You can purchase your photo packet via the Parent Portal by choosing Classes/Events in the upper right corner of your dashboard. Please purchase your photos BEFORE photo week so we can be as organized as possible. Photo packets will be available for purchase Monday – April 17th.

Costume Photo Week will also serve as our first Dress Rehearsal. Classes will perform for each other with the mirrors covered so it’s more like the real thing. Please be sure that (even if you aren’t purchasing photos) your child comes to class in their costume, with proper tights, shoes & specific hair. Please plan for your dancer to be at the studio for at least 1hr. We will try to get the youngest dancers done right at the top of the hour while the older dancers may stay the entire hour and a half. The Photo Week Schedule will be slightly different than your normal dance schedule & will be released soon. Please keep an eye out for another Studio M email with more details!
– SHOW REHEARSAL WEEK: This is a new thing we are adding this season. The week of May 30th-June 2nd (Tues-Fri because we are closed on Memorial Day), we will be running our shows from beginning to end in Studio Montana. This means that your child will likely be scheduled at a different time than normal for that week. Now that show orders are complete we will be begin working on rehearsal schedules.
– RECITAL TICKETS: Recital Tickets will go on sale May 2nd at 12pm. We will be using a 3rd party vendor called TuTu Tix. You can purchase tickets online through their website. All tickets will be $15 for reserved seating. Age 3 & under are free but must be seated on a lap. Tickets are exchangeable but NOT refundable so please pay close attention to the date of the tickets you are purchasing.
– RECITAL TANKS: We are currently designing our annual recital tanks so please be sure to get your dancers size in the portal. Recital tanks are included in your annual Recital Fee.
– RECITAL FEE: Recital Fees are due on May 2nd. Each child participating in the recital is charged a $40 fee that covers recital tanks, recital video links & payroll for recital week.
– VOLUNTERS: We are in search of volunteers to help backstage during the shows. If you are free and interested in the inner workings of how we put on a show, please let us know ASAP!
UPCOMING…
– Our monthly Spirit Week for the month of May will be May 15th-19th & our theme is WOWZA Studio M Dancers are TOYRIFFIC!! More details to come…
– Studio M Day is one of our favorite days of the year as we get to celebrate a FUN season & the best dancers in town!! Please mark your calendars for May 20th!
– We will be closed in observation of Memorial day on May 29th.
REMINDERS
- We do not have a water fountain so make sure your dancer has their own water bottle.
- If you are sick at all, please stay home and use our Zoom option. Parents are welcome to watch class with this option.
- Make sure your dancer is following dress code. Basic rules: hair pulled back, proper shoes, belly & bottoms covered. Be sure to check your class description for more details.
- ONLY TOTS & LITTLES PARENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING. If you have a child in a Combo, Level 1, 2, 3, 4 classes, Medley, Merge or Mixed Media, please watch via Zoom.
- Follow us on Instagram & Facebook. We post a lot about what’s happening at our studio & it’s an easy way to keep up. You will also get monthly emails like this!
